Elf door accessories
A lantern, parcels and a Christmas tree make it look as if someone really lives behind the elf door. Here are 14 accessories, as well as mats and signs, to print for free, cut out and put by the door.
What you can print
Click a thing to start with it. Then add more, and the page sets it all out on the sheet. You can print the sheets above as they are, or click the name and change them.
- A lantern to light the way home in the dark.
- Parcels the elf is busy wrapping.
- A Christmas tree with baubles and a star on top.
- A mailbox for the elf's post.
- A ladder up to the shelf where the elf hides.
- Rice porridge with a knob of butter, the Swedish elf's favourite.
- Firewood with snow on top.
- A sled to stand outside the door.
- A snowman on guard.
- Boots drying by the door.
- A Yule goat of straw with red ribbons.
- A wreath of spruce, for the door or the wall.
- A window with a light on inside and shutters, next to the door.
- Advent candles, all four of them.
- Mats and signs, where you can also write your own words on the sign.
How to do it
- Choose a size to suit the door: small, medium or large. The accessories then fit the door you have in the same size.
- Print on A4 at actual size, that is 100 per cent. If you choose many things at the large size, they go on to one more sheet.
- Cut out along the dashed lines, and trim the white closest to the thing if you like.
- Put them up by the door with sticky tack. Glued on card, they are sturdier.
Let the children colour them in
All the accessories also come without colour. Choose “To colour in”, and the tree, the snowman and the parcels become a craft before 1 December. Children like to look in on things they have made themselves every morning.
How many accessories do you need?
A couple go a long way. Start with a lantern and a mat when the elf moves in, and let more things turn up during December. A Christmas tree that is suddenly there one morning is a small antic in itself.
If you have no door yet, here are elf doors to print, and the elf may also need a name.
Keep small things away from small children.
Questions about the elf
What accessories can an elf door have?
The most common are a small mat, a sign with the elf's name, a lantern, a mailbox and a ladder. Here you can also print parcels, a Christmas tree, porridge, firewood, a sled, a snowman, boots, a Yule goat, a wreath, a window and Advent candles.
Are the accessories free?
Yes. All the accessories are free to print, in colour or to colour in. They are printouts on paper, not things sent to your home.
How do the accessories stay up?
With sticky tack, which comes off without a mark. Glued on card first, they are sturdier and last all December.
What size should the accessories be?
The same as the door. Choose small, medium or large and the things are the right size for a door of 9, 13 or 18 centimetres.
